"WOMAN OF VALOR" AWARD

A special feature of this year's event is the presentation of the "Woman of Valor" Award.  This years recipient is our beloved Shirley Ruzumna, a longstanding member of Sisterhood of Congregation Shaarey Zedek.  We hope you will join us in celebrating this honor and congratulating her.

As a longtime member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Shirley Ruzumna joined Sisterhood in 1983 to make new friends and get involved in the Metropolitan Detroit Jewish Community. She started as a volunteer for the Woman’s World Silent Auction and went on to serve as the Vice President of Social for many years overseeing Woman’s World and other social events for Sisterhood.  With her talent for cooking and entertaining, Shirley also led the preparation and serving of meals for the Social Action Committee.  This by far was her favorite event, being able to provide a meal for those less fortunate.  In addition, Shirley served on the Board of Women’s League for Conservative Judaism and Michigan Branch.  Some of her favorite memories include attending Convention and spending time with her many friends from Sisterhood and the Jewish Community.  Shirley also delights all of us with her delicious Mondel Bread.
